The Latin words,"
Nali Me Tangere," inspired me. The idea that touch is even in words is a profound idea to me. By placing the words on my own skin I have created a situation of a conundrum. Words that ask to not be touched are being touched just by meaning the word touch, and are furthering the experience of being touched by being on my skin.
Skin is so strong and durable. It can be peeled off, rubbed off and burned off. Your skin will still protect you and grow back. I wanted to show the durability of my own skin by making it look rougher with dark shadows and sharp contrasting highlights, helping exaggerate the thickness.
