For this piece I manipulated my memento project. I placed the image in photoshop and manipulated multiple layers. I wanted it to look more charred and sketched out for the final image.

"The body is the primary mode of perceiving scale." I sometimes feel like I'm larger than life and taller than mountains. That is until I actually stand on a mountain. Painting II POst 3

During this week I began to struggle to balance my time. I did not make much progress on my painting. I went back into the tomatoes and worked more detail into them. Unfortunately that was all of the work I was able to do that week. I was really happy with the progress and how they were coming out. Around this time I was informed that Dutch still lives are significantly smaller. I honestly had no idea. I was feeling compelled to work smaller because of this. At this point, I was still looking at Tjalf. His work is inspiring to me, and I would love to reach his level one day. I have a long way to go though.

BA Post 7

10/19/18 This week I decided to go larger with my painting. I also decided to stop confronting the issues I've been having with backgrounds. I went for a plain white background with a giant pie. I really enjoyed painting this way. I was able to put all of my time into the detail of the pie. I decided at the last minute to add a shadow, but I might not do that for the next painting. I still included embroidery, I feel like its even less viewable than the last painting. The artists that I was looking at this week was Wayne theibaud. I was thinking about how he handles backgrounds and I decided to give it a shot. I'm happy about the outcome, and I think I want to keep going this route.
